There is something more to get from the Doctrina Jacobi, I think: what kind of prophet were the Jews waiting for? As they still wait for the Messiah to come, they also still wait for its precursor, the prophet who would announce his coming. This is exactly what is about: “a prophet appeared, coming with the Saracens and he is proclaiming the arrival of the coming Anointed One and Christ”. This is why his “Jewish prophethood” is being discussed in the DJ. So, was the “historical” Muhammad proclaiming the coming of the Messiah?

Loved your video with Dr. Jay Smith. That was one of the best time investments I ever made. I noticed an interesting coincidence as the video progressed and I learned more. I noticed that your last name means “The fountain” and we have an idiom in English for people who really know their stuff and really know things that the rest of us might not be expected to know. We say, “he is a fountain of knowledge” or sometimes we use the older form and say, “he is a fount of knowledge”.
You are definitely well-named.
In a way, it’s too bad your first name isn’t Odin. That would complete the fountain of knowledge concept. Throughout his existence, Odin was a seeker of hidden knowledge. In fact, he almost seemed to be addicted to acquiring it. Hmmm probably better to be named Odon and not have that addiction.
I noticed that pictures of the Zulfiqar are always held by Ali. Now the Zulfiqar if you haven’t guessed already, is simply a reinterpretation of the doubled edged/doubled mouth sword of the Bible, but maladapted to a scimitar or curved blade which usually only carries one edge.
Suspicious of this, I looked up the meaning of Ali recently and was astounded that the wiki article says that the name Ali is “identical in form and meaning to the Hebrew Eli, which goes back to the High Priest Eli in the biblical Books of Samuel.”
Now there is an Islamic invocation that goes:
“lā sayfa ʾillā ḏū l-faqāri, wa-lā fatā ʾillā ʿalīy
or
There is no sword but the Zulfiqar (double-edged, discerning right from wrong), and there is no Youth/Young man but Ali/Eli.

PDF pg 1, para 2: The ESV, for instance, represents the translation tradition and renders this as: “And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind. And I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed forever.”1 This is often seen as an indication that the priesthood and the kingship will co-exist in two distinct persons.2 This translation follows the Masoretic pointing. However, *the unpointed text presents another curious possibility: “And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, he will do just as is in my heart and my soul. And I will build for him a sure house and my anointed one will walk before me all the days.”* This translation requires only a slight re-pointing of the MT from וְהִתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי־משִׁיחִיְ to וְהִתְהַלֵּךְ לְפָנַי מְשִׁיחִי and taking מְשִׁיחִי as the subject of the verb. With that slight change kingship is cast from the outset not merely as an office in addition to the priesthood, but as the eventual solution to the demise of the house of Eli and of the priesthood itself.
If you read the entirety of the Eli Prophecy starting 1 Samuel 2:31 it proclaims that none of the male descendants from Eli’s line will die in old age. i.e they will die as young men even as he himself died at 70yrs. Recall too that Mary is related to ELIzaeth which potentially makes both of them descendants of Aaron the High Priest. Of Eli too? Also, with Karl’s repointing, it means that the Eli prophecy is not about a king and priest in separate persons (as the Masoretic pointing done in the 6th century would imply) but a single man. This would make this a Messianic prophecy which can only be fulfilled by a Priest-King (and one who would die in the flower of his age – keep in mind that a High Priest only comes of age at 30). See also Zechariah 6:11-15.
In other words, this invocation is a shorthand reference to the Eli prophecy and the one who would fulfill it.
